System & Network Administrator


This key position in our organization maintains a mission-critical computing environment by identifying system & network requirements, installing upgrades, monitoring system performance and troubleshooting service issues.


Primary Responsibilities:

 

  • Establishes system & network specifications by conferring with vendors, analyzing data & voice traffic patterns, security requirements and designing system & network infrastructure
  • Establishes system & network infrastructure by planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration and testing of server hardware, operating systems, software, WAN Networks and management systems
  • Maintains system & network performance by monitoring, analyzing and performance-tuning; troubleshooting system hardware, software, operating systems, networks and management systems; escalating application problems to vendor
  • Secures system & network by developing system access, monitoring, control and evaluation; establishing and testing disaster recover policies and procedures; completing backups and maintaining documentation
  • Upgrades systems by conferring with vendors and services; developing, testing, evaluating and installing enhancements and new software
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
  • Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential
  • Accomplishes organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
  • Other responsibilities as required

 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge Sun/Oracle Solaris 9 & 10 and Red Hat/Centos Linux O/S, experience with Microsoft Windows Server
  • In-depth knowledge configuring hardware devices such as IBM Blade Servers, Sun Netra Servers; experience configuring network devices such as Cisco routers and switches, Juniper Netscreen firewalls
  • Prefer experience configuring VoIP devices such as Audio Codes media servers and gateways, Acme Packet Session Directors
  • Experience with the following technologies and products SIP,RTP, FTP, HTTP, HTTPS, TCP/IP, SSH, SNMP,DNS, DHCP, SMTP, BGP, OSPF, Telnet, Radius, SQL databases, SSL certificates and Postfix
  • Expert knowledge troubleshooting and analyzing voice and/or data traffic using packet analyzers, system and network tools
  • Shell programming expertise
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills
  • Ability to resolve technical issues quickly and independently
  • A degree or diploma in computer science, a related field or equivalent field experience
  • Minimum of five years of system & network administration experience
